This pretty pool was discovered by Irene Bose, wife of Justice Vivian Bose, and named after her in the colonial era. It is one of the more secluded and romantically named spots in Pachmarhi — a serene natural pool hidden among the forested hills.
Access to Irene Pool comes from the car stop at Reach Garh. The journey to the pool itself is a delightful walk through the forest, with the sound of the stream growing louder as you approach. The pool reflects the surrounding greenery and offers a peaceful escape from the more crowded attractions.
The real adventure begins when you follow the stream upstream from the pool. The path leads to a remarkable cave through which the stream goes underground — disappearing into the earth before re-emerging on the other side. Beyond the cave, the stream reappears and flows over a khud (precipice) in a series of beautiful falls, creating a hidden waterfall experience that most visitors never discover.
The combination of the tranquil pool, the cave exploration, and the hidden waterfalls makes Irene Pool one of Pachmarhi's most rewarding off-the-beaten-path experiences.
